Five Star Volleyball Club

2022-2023  17 Silver Head Coach

I started my volleyball career in 1975 playing, coaching, and officiating, and loving every minute.

My playing career started with recreational volleyball in Colorado for 6 years, then moved to Virginia in 1980 and joined the then USVBA Chesapeake Region. I started competitive play ending with the Reston, Virginia Volleyball club as the starting setter for men's AA/Open in Reston, Virginia.  At that time, we played both competitive club teams as well as college club teams from schools like George Mason and Navy.   While playing with the men, I started coaching woman's A and BB teams and got certified as a Regional Scorer and Referee. In my spare time, I played co-ed A for county and city teams in northern Virginia.  to this day I continue to play in the sand, grass, and hard court.

I moved back to northern Colorado in the 90s, I started officiating with middle and high schools in Colorado, working my way up to a bid to ref state volleyball championships, and became an officials’ trainer for Colorado Volleyball Officials Association.  I moved up the officials’ ladder in USA Volleyball to be certified as a Junior National scorer and referee and served on the Rocky Mountain Officials Training Team.  I then earned my NCAA certification to referee college matches.

I began my Colorado coaching career with 5 Star Volleyball 20+ years ago.  Remember those Purple warm-ups?   When we moved to Denver, I started coaching for Mile High Volleyball, working with teams starting with 14’s all the way through 18s.

I changed jobs and took a break from coaching and officiating for a few years, but I could not stay away.  I started coaching the future generation of volleyball players in the Platteville Recreation Department coaching 3rd thru 8th grades, organizing clinics and tournaments, and teaching moms to coach volleyball.

Came back to 5 Star, then retired from coaching and officiating but volleyball was in my blood.

I was drawn back in as the Volleyball Coordinator at LifeTime Fitness where I started a new club team and coached for Lifetime Volleyball Club for 3 years, and now I am back at 5 Star to coach a great group of girls on the 17 Silver team.
