PARENTS - Parenting the Elite/Adolescent Athlete in Today’s Competitive World

Come see/hear one of the most passionate Performance Psychologists in the nation talk about how to put your student/athlete in a great position to excel and succeed in today’s competitive world. Dr. Rick Perea, Ph.D., C.P.C., works with corporations, athletes and teams helping them perform at peak levels. He also works with adolescent athletes helping them understand how the mental side of the game impacts performance. He does Radio and Television analysis about mental enhancement and performance. Further, his wife and business partner, Melanie Perea, M.A., who is a former Division 1 colligate and professional volleyball player, shares her experiences how to impart the mental aspects of the game. She has experience coaching at the high school, club and collegiate levels and brings a real application component to this presentation.
Their presentation is fun, light and at times sobering as they share their experience in coaching their daughter, a former D-1 athlete. You will leave this presentation understanding the following keys points:
1. How Process versus Outcome goals increase performance.
2. The difference between Intrinsic and Extrinsic motivation.
3. How to handle the “ride home.”
4. Your role as a parent of a high performing student/athlete.

This mandatory player/coach seminar will be held at Prairie View Middle School on Thursday 12/11 from 530-715pm
To perform at peak levels for today’s competitive volleyball player, Coaches and Players need the latest research and evidenced based practices and protocols to enhance mental performance. Come see/hear one the most passionate Performance Psychologists in the nation, Dr. Rick Perea, Ph.D., C.P.C, discuss how regulating arousal and anxiety can take your game to the next level. Also, Coaches will be exposed to the latest practices in motivation science and understanding how rewarding the process will get their desired outcome (goal). Dr. Perea will be joined by his wife and business partner, Melanie Perea, M.A., C.P.C., who is a former D-1 collegiate and professional volleyball player. She brings real-world application to this presentation that will be fun, light and sometimes sobering as they explain how they coached their D-1 Daughter and made some unintentional mistakes.
