Meet David

I started playing volleyball in 1975...36 years playing, coaching and officiating volleyball - that's a long time!

I played recreational volleyball in Colorado for 5 years, then moved to Virginia in 1980 and joined the then USVBA Chesapeake Region. I started competitive play ending with the Reston, Virginia volleyball club as a setter for men's AA/Open in Reston, Virginia. At that time we played both competitive club teams as well as college club teams from schools like George Mason and Navy. I was the only player under 6 feet on my team that averaged over 6 feet with my tallest middle at 6 feet 11 inches. While playing with the men, I started coaching woman's A and BB teams and got certified as a Regional Scorer and Referee. In my spare time I played co-ed A for county and city teams in northern Virginia.

After moving back to northern Colorado in the 90’s, I began officiating middle and high schools in Colorado, working my way up to a bid to ref state volleyball championships, and became an officials’ trainer for Colorado Volleyball Officials Association. I began my Colorado coaching career with 5 Star Volleyball. When we moved to Denver I started coaching for Mile High Volleyball, working with teams starting with 14’s all the way through 18;s. I moved up the officials’ ladder to be certified as a Junior National scorer and referee and also served on the Rocky Mountain Officials Training Team for one season and was certified to officiate at the collegiate level.

I changed jobs and took a break from coaching and officiating. For the last seven years I have volunteered in the Platteville Recreation Department coaching 3rd thru 8th grades, organizing clinics and tournaments, and teaching moms to coach volleyball.
